CRDs ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ - Gotchas and Best Practices - Dave Protasowski, VMware & Matt Moore, VMware

Building controllers is easy right? Add a loop - done. Compare some state - done. Ship it! But wait - is it resilient and robust against failures? How do you know?

On the Knative project we have been building controllers and designing APIs for the last few years. We’ve made our users happy making sure everything is backwards compatible. But we have encountered hurdles, lemons and unexpected surprises. We want you to avoid the things we learned the hard way. Owner references, garbage collection - yes those are important. level-based vs. edge based - that’s VERY important. There’s more so attend! Become an expert and you’ll shape your API like Michelangelo.
